Students in the University of the Philippines, from 1st years to 4th years are now preparing for the coming visit in M/V Doulos, the International Book Carrier which is a boat. Before we’ll go there, the teachers like us, are so busy in finding some transportation in going in and out there. They say, that we will have a bus in taking us there but unfortunately all buses are going to Simala, so instead of riding a bus, we will ride a jeepney. Each one of us should pay P15 each to pay the expenses because the teachers are only renting it to have something to ride on. Since there are 4 sections going there, excluding the 3rd years and the 4th years, we will have to rent 8 buses all in all.
At around 12:30 at noon on that particular day, we are all ready to go to M/V Doulos. Each class will have a proctor and our proctor is Madame MontaƱo. Before we’re able to go inside the big ship, our teachers must register us so that we can go inside and we also should find a partner. Going up to a ladder-like makes my head go crazy. I cannot understand the feeling of climbing a ladder so high which surrounded by water below it but I know I can do this thing. With my partner, Brigette, we went inside the ship side by side. I find M/V Doulos as a huge library. I find some books very interesting and I am also attracted by some books like The Chronicles of Narnia: The Witch, The Lion and The Wardrobe. I also wanted to read some books containing information about nature, birds, historical persons and legendary players of various kind of sport. Others read some books while others are only roaming around looking for someone or something. Boys were busy in escorting some girl and some are busy in talking. Girls are busy in walking around to find the best book for them while some are feeling like Ms. Photogenic. I also find students which are not from U.P. like the students from VNBC, students from the University of San Carlos, University of the Southern Philippines and students coming from the Asian Learning Center. They read different kinds of books while we're now exitting and ready to leave but the problem is that the jeepneys which we are riding for going back to U.P. have not arrived yet. Luckily, the people who are serving in that huge boat are preparing a short presentation in their lives on how they manage to be in that boat for such a long time for us. We watch it with the students of the Asian Learning Center. After that short show, the emcee do some game. The first game was that there will be three contestant whether if it from U.P. or from that school. They will answer different questions about a particular idea. And the next game is that 2 participants from each school will participate. They also give us some souvenirs so that we will remember that day. After a minute or two the jeepneys arrive, but before that part I've seen my two neighbors which studied in VNBC. We, first years, rush off and sit immediately in those sits and went back to U.P.
